The 2014 Laser Open was sailed last Sunday in fabulous sailing conditions with light to moderate shifting southerlies.
Yet again the event attracted a significant turnout with a total of 54 boats including an impressive 33 local boats signing up.
With the wing blowing straight up the lake, and with excellent courses set by Tim and Wendy Gray and their team, the Lasers sailed 3 great races with close competitive duals going on right down through the fleet.
Impressively, Staunton Harold boats took 6 of the top 10 places, and 14 of the top 20 places (including 2 of our Grand Masters and 3 of our Great Grand Masters!)
Once again Grahame Newton came in 1st overall after a great battle with Craig Williamson 2nd and his father Paul Williamson 3rd, with Richard Bennett 4th

Other SHSC boats in the prizes were:
Ellie Craig – first Radial and first Junior (20th)
Corey Newton – first Youth (11th)
Alan Bennett – first Great Grand Master (16th)
Eleanor Sleep – first Female (13th)
Tom Burrows – first non Laser fleet member (23rd)

Many thanks to Tim and Wendy and their team, to Aileen for her inevitable sterling efforts with the data bashing and sorting the results, and to the Galley and Bar team for providing fantastic sustinance throughout the day...and to fleet captain Richard Barnett for mustering the troops for a great turnout!

More information will hopefully be on Yachts and Yachting and Club websites in the next few days.
