Saturday Evening

(needless to say the bar will be open when the racing finishes and throughout the evening):
17.30 Prize giving for the Junior/Youth Champs and the Regatta Cup
18.30 (approx) Commodore's address and the official naming of our new Committee boat, bought withthe help of a £10,000 donation from Sport England, by our very own Pat Newton.
As many of you will have seen the boat will be named "The Misses Crewe" as a result of a ballot over last winter. The name refers to the three repressed daughters of Sir Vauncey Harpur-Crewe, 10th Baronet CalkeAbbey who was a keen ornithologist and who owned the six ponds which weredeveloped into Staunton Harold Reservoir.  He turned the whole estate into a birdsanctuary (probably driven by his keener interest in shooting and taxidermy). He hated anything modern, thus sailing on the lake would have been unthinkable.A modern committee boat in the middle of the lake, would be like his daughters defyinghis repression of them, and hence "The Misses Crewe"!

19.00 Hog Roast....and some Real Ale at the bar.
20.00 Dancing the night away to "The Last Out"
Tickets for the night are £15 for adults and £5 for chrildren - please contact Grahame Newton grahame.newton@stent.co.ukto reserve ASAP!
!! AND there will be a Tombola, run by Ailleen in aid of the Commodore's Charity, The Alzheimers' Society. So bring big prezzies for the stand for others to buy in aid of this worthy cause. (I may even donate some of my home made legendary butter croissants!)!!
Of course you can camp overnight, or retire to your homes....or some have been known to sleep under the stars....or hedge!
