Ellie Craig - RYA UK Laser Radial Transitional Squad

Eleanor Craig Sailing Laser1

"Our Ellie" gets selected for RYA UK Laser Radial Transitional Squad!

Eleanor Craig has been selected for the RYA UK Laser Radial Transitional Squad* after a long selection process, this comprised of results from the Laser Inland Championships,
the racing day of the squad Indicator events, and 2 other transitional training events, which were observed by selectors from the RYA. Once all the results were combined
Ellie came out as one of the top 2 girls to be selected for the squad.
At this level, getting into a squad becomes a lot harder, with best junior/youth sailors applying for a place, 38 applications were made for just 12 places, with a lot of good sailors missing out. The hard work and
sacrifices that Ellie has made have paid off.

She will now spend 6 training camps at WPNSA, GWSC and Pwhelli, and providing she qualifies, she will be selected for a European event next summer!

This has been the icing on the cake for Ellie, for what has been a fantastic year, winning an RYA award, NSSA National Topper Championship, Midland Laser Grand Prix Radial fleet and
1st lady and junior overall, to name but a few, she has won over 35 trophies this year!!!
Quite an achievement for only her 2nd year racing outside of the club.

We would just like to say a huge  thankyou to those at the club who have given advice and support for her move into Laser's from Topper's as it has made a difference!
and wish her every success next year.

* the UK Transitional Squads aim to take the most promising sailors progressing into a new Youth Class with a view to progressing onto the demanding UK Youth Squad.
