Learn to sail at Staunton Harold

Adult Training

If you've always wanted to sail, now is the time to learn! Our next RYA adult Level 1 and 2 course is due to start on 22nd April so don't delay, read on, book your place and make this the year that you become a sailor.

The course will run for ten sessions on Saturday mornings from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., from 22nd April through to June 24th. Fun and interactive, you will enjoy theoretical classroom and practical on the water instruction. Students will sail primarily in RS Visions and Laser 13s - large double handers which are ideally suited for training. Towards the end of the course there may also be the opportunity to try single handed sailing in a Laser 1.

Buouyancy aids, wetsuits and spraytops are provided. Students will need to wear suitable 'old' clothes, swimsuits, soft-soled closed-toe footwear and bring a towel. Please bear in mind that whilst sailing you are likely to get wet, so a change of clothes will also be essential.

On completion of the course, the successful sailor will be safety conscious, have a basic knowledge of sailing and will be capable of sailing in light winds. For those who have gained the Level 2 certificate, and become club members there will also be the opportunity to hire club boats.

The course is open to both members and non-members and costs £180 to members. For non-members the cost is £180 plus a course membership fee of £75. The course includes two extra learn to sail sessions, in addition to those noted above.

To book your place on the course, please email Liz Simons - training@shsc.org.uk or call 01332 850774 (evenings and weekends only). Don't delay as places are limited.
