SHSC saillors excel at Abersoch...and win the overall championship club trophy!

IMG_2845_C

Abersoch Dinghy week is six days of racing one race per day launching from
the beach at Abersoch and run by South Caernarvonshire Yacht Club .  Unlike
many class national championships this is ideal to combine sailboat racing
with a holiday.  The format is essentially single handers in the morning
starting at 10:00 and two man boats starting at 2:00 in the afternoon.  The
courses are set across Cardigan Bay with some legs that are well over a mile
long, part of the challenge is to find the marks.

There is class racing for classes with 10 boats or more and a team prize for
3 nominated boats from different classes from each club with the lowest
combined score from all of the races to count.  Staunton Harold entered the
team of Rupert and Louisa Chapman (RS200), Craig Williamson (Laser) and Paul
Williamson (Laser Radial).  At the mid-point Delph Sailing Club had a slim
lead over Staunton Harold with South Caernarvonshire Yacht Club in third
place, but by the end of the week Staunton Harold had a 21 point lead to win
with Delph second and South Caernarvonshire in third place.

After a week sailing in almost perfect conditions, in the class racing
Rupert and Louisa were 8th, Craig was 2nd and Paul 1st.
