SHSC sailors start the 2014 SailJuice series as they finished the 2013 series......at the front in the Draycote Dash!

Draycote Dash 2014 Tim Olin5-Craig-Williamson

The Draycote Dash is the first of the Winter SAiljuice series, an eight event series held between November and March.  The series is used by many sailors as winter practice for the forthcoming season.  The Dash consists of four short handicap races on the Saturday with a two hour, double points non-discardable pursuit race on the Sunday.
Three Staunton Harold teams took part this year, Craig and Paul Williamson sailing Lasers and Pete Slack sailing a Fireball with Karen Hiles.  Craig and Paul had a successful first day with Craig going into the final day in fourth and Paul in fifth out of a fleet of 104 boats.  The pursuit race started in light winds which didn't get better as the day progressed.  Craig managed to work his way to sixth which was enough to secure him second place overall two points behind the winner Mike Lyons sailing a Halo. Paul watched his son sail into the distance to finish ninth overall and Pete and Karen managed 52nd in conditions that really didn't suite the Fireball.
The next round inthe series is at Datchet on 13/14 December.
